On a MSI Tomahawk B450 Max board, this chip performs solidly. I wasn't terribly impressed with the minimal increase in performance over the 5700G I replaced, but the big benefit came in the extra boost in RAM speed and GPU performance. My RTX 3070 came in about 9% faster using this chip over the 5700G and benchmarks at about what a 3080 comes in at. So the big benefit of the X versus the G chip, assuming you have a discrete GPU, is in higher PCIe throughput.
